Webb25 aug. 2005 · boat trailer disc brakes I have Tie-down discs that came on my 2002 Wesco trailer. (Knock on wood) I haven't had any problems yet (Knock on wood) but I KNOW I'm living on borrowed time. Hoping to make it to Rock season (Knock on wood)when I put it in the boatel and I can tear them down and see what shape they and the bearings are in. Webb4 apr. 2011 · Disc brakes are designed to run almost touching the rotor, there is .0003 run out built into a rotor so the first revolution of the wheel on take off will shove the pads back so they are not touching, a loose bearing can let the wheel lean and rub the pads all of the time causing overheat and of course excessive wear.
